Preventive Dentistry
In today’s world, just like in every field of medicine, preventive dentistry has gained significant importance in dentistry as well. Preventive dentistry is particularly crucial for children. Children should meet a dentist even before having any dental issues.
Hygiene Education
First and foremost, each patient is provided with oral hygiene education to maintain the achieved ideal oral hygiene level.
Topical Fluoride Application
Topical fluoride applications are simple and painless procedures that can be started from the age of 3 and should be repeated every 6 months. Topical fluoride is applied by a dentist in the form of varnish or gel. After this procedure, the fluoride stored on your child’s teeth surface will make their teeth much healthier and more resistant to decay.
Fissure Sealant
A special liquid filling material is used to prevent the accumulation of food and microorganisms and, as a result, to prevent cavities.
From childhood to adolescence, the dentist that an individual meets plays a significant role in their healthy growth, development, and facial aesthetics formation.
Oral and dental health is crucial for ensuring proper nutrition and healthy growth in children. In cases of inflammation, abscesses, and cavities in the oral environment, children cannot eat properly and, therefore, cannot achieve their ideal growth. Sometimes, abscesses and infections can lead to children being hospitalized due to lowered overall body resistance, affecting their heart, joints, kidneys, and other organs. These unfortunate scenarios affect our most precious and important assets, our children and families.
To prevent these negative outcomes, it’s the duty of dental professionals experienced and skilled in child dental health to take care of children and young adults in the 4-16 age group. These professionals provide patience and love along with modern dental knowledge to children and their families.
In Turkish society, around 80-90% of our children have often feared dentists and dental clinics where these procedures are performed. This fear remains at similar levels in the adult and senior age groups. However, eliminating this fear is our top priority.
Children may experience redness, bruising, swelling, and bleeding in their gums just above their teeth.
Attention should be paid to swelling and bleeding areas on the inside of the cheeks and lips, about 1 cm above and below the gums.
Bleeding, swelling, bruising, and redness of the gums often stem from inadequate brushing or the inability to clean excessively misaligned teeth. These symptoms are often seen in untreated cavities in the back areas or improperly filled areas.
Swelling and bleeding areas on the gums often indicate inflammation of baby teeth and cysts in the root region.
During puberty in girls (ages 11-13), excessive growth, bleeding, and swelling of the gums can be observed.
Additionally, systemic illnesses, flu, fever, most congenital diseases, and excessive use of medications can cause these symptoms in all children.
With the treatments provided by pediatric dental specialists, including regular check-ups and ideal oral care, we can ensure children’s oral and dental health and establish a healthy youth.
