Sedation

It is used to induce a state of drowsiness in the patient, promoting relaxation and calmness. The patient remains conscious, but they won’t remember the procedure. Sedating the patient helps alleviate fear and anxiety.

For many patients, surgical procedures can be performed using local anesthesia. Sedation is recommended for patients who prefer not to be aware of the surgical intervention and want to be asleep during the procedure. Throughout the surgical procedure, the patient cooperates with the dentist. This is not general anesthesia and can be administered in the dentist’s office without the need for a hospital or operating room.

The patient can follow the instructions given by the dentist.

There can be a dialogue between the patient and the dentist.

When the dentist instructs the patient to open their mouth, the patient can easily comply. Due to the effects of the medication after the procedure, the patient won’t remember the treatment process, pain, unpleasant sounds, etc., and thus won’t be subjected to psychological trauma.

This situation will make it easier for the patient to return for further dental treatments and surgical procedures in subsequent sessions.

There are no known side effects. About half an hour after the procedure, the patient will be able to go home. It is advised not to drive, avoid activities that require effort and concentration, and to rest.
